Three Types Of Carpet For Your Home

Although carpeted floors have fallen out of favour with many homeowners, some people still like to have them in certain areas of their homes. Having carpet in the bedrooms can help keep them warmer, and putting your bare feet down on carpet is much preferable to walking on a bare floor in the winter. Here are three types of carpet suitable for installing in your house.

Berber Carpet

Berber carpet is made from several types of materials, including wool, nylon and Olefin fibre. Berkshire floorcoverings may recommend it for areas of high traffic because it has a short, loop weave that is very durable. Most Berber carpets are easy to maintain. They are stain resistant, and they are often less expensive than most plusher carpets.

Twist Pile Carpet

Twist pile carpet is a type of cut pile carpeting that is both soft and strong, so it would do well in most bedrooms. A cut pile means the fibre of the carpet is pulled through the backing in a loop and then cut to make the carpet softer. The fibres of a twist pile are then twisted so that they bend or kink.

Shag Carpet

Shag carpet is once again becoming popular with some homeowners because of its soft texture. Shag carpets have a deep pile with long fibres that make them appear to be shaggy, thus giving them their name. Although they can be harder to clean, if kept maintained, they can give a room a nice appearance and they make a soft surface in children’s rooms.

The type of carpet you choose for your home will depend on which rooms you are installing it in and how much wear it will get. A Berber carpet may be better for your stairs, while a shag or twist pile may be better for installing in bedrooms.
